Bulldogs Provide Little Challenge for First-Place Savage Storm

DURANT, Okla. – The first-place team in the Great American Conference softball standings, Southeastern Oklahoma State, showed precisely why they are in that position as they dismantled SWOSU with a doubleheader sweep by scores of 4-0 and 11-2 (5 inn.) on Friday.

SWOSU was one-hit in the opener with the only base hit coming from Adrienne Martinez as she led off the seventh inning with a single.  The Savage Storm scored once in the first, twice in the third and once in the fifth to earn the win.
 
Julianne Martinez allowed three hits and four earned runs, suffering the loss and falling to 6-17 on the year.
 
Southeastern 11, SWOSU 2 (5 inn.)

Southeastern scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back as they earned the run-rule victory with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning. SWOSU scored once in the fourth on an RBI single from Kylee Morgan and again fifth with a sac fly from Molly Vivo. Both teams had eight hits for the games, but SWOSU stranded seven runners on base.
 
Vivo started and took the loss after recording just one out in the bottom of the first inning while allowing five earned runs without giving up a hit. Mallory Davis pitched the final 4.1 innings, surrendering eight hits and six runs, five earned. Vivo is now 3-11 on the year.
 
 
SWOSU and Southeastern complete the series on Saturday with a noon doubleheader.
