WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The final home series of the season didn't go the way the SWOSU softball team envisioned. After being turned back twice by East Central on Friday, the Bulldogs suffered a similar fate on Saturday as the Tigers defeated SWOSU by scores of 9-7 and 9-0 in a five-inning run rule.

A seven-run second inning, including a grand slam, helped the Tigers gain control and have enough cushion to hold off the Bulldogs rally. SWOSU responded with a bases-clearing double from Makensy Payne in the second inning to cut the deficit to 7-3 and a two-run home run by Adrienne Martinez in the fifth made it 7-5.

ECU scored two more runs in the sixth but SWOSU responded with an RBI double from Courtney Miller that scored Ashley Dunigan and an RBI single from Molly Vivo that brought Miller home and got SWOSU back within two at 9-7.

Julianne Martinez suffered the loss in her final home start as a Bulldog. She allowed 12 hits and nine earned runs as she dropped to 6-16 on the year.
