Woes Continue for SWOSU at Oklahoma Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Non-conference action saw the SWOSU softball team handed a pair of shortened-game defeats on Friday afternoon. Oklahoma Christian defeated the Bulldogs 10-2 (6 inn.) in game one before an 11-3 (5 inn.) victory in game two.

Jordan Haney was chased after three innings with the Bulldogs trailing 4-1, but Oklahoma Christian scored four runs in the fourth and one each in the fifth and sixth innings to secure the run-rule victory.
 
SWOSU scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Kendall Smith and in the fifth on an RBI single from Adrienne Martinez, but it was not enough offense to overcome the Eagles attack. Eight of OC's runs were earned, including five against Haney, who took the loss and falls to 1-1.

Highlights were hard to come by for SWOSU in the night cap after Oklahoma Christian scored four runs in the both the first and second innings, then three in the third to take an 11-0 advantage. The Bulldogs got three runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning, but it was not enough to extend the game.
 
Martinez had an RBI double in the fifth and Nikki Brandt had a sac fly to score Courtney Miller before Megan Sakowski scored the final run following an OC error. Julianne Martinez was saddled with the loss after allowing 12 hits and nine earned runs in 3.0 innings of work. She is now 4-5 on the year.
 
 
SWOSU falls to 5-13 on the year following the losses and they are currently mired in a four-game losing skid. Their next chance to snap that comes on Friday when they begin a conference series at Henderson State.
