Softball Opens with Split against Ouachita Baptist

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU entered the final inning of game two with a chance to complete their first sweep of the season, but Ouachita Baptist scored the final six runs to split the doubleheader on Friday afternoon at the Athletic Complex.

The Bulldogs did all their damage in the first inning of the first game, producing three runs off four hits and two OBU errors. Adrienne Martinez had an RBI double in the inning and Molly Vivo added an RBI single and SWOSU took a 3-0 lead early on.
 
That was plenty of cushion for Julianne Martinez pitched a complete game in the circle, allowing four hits and one run while striking out five batters. Martinez picked up the win to move to 6-7 on the year.

The outlook was good for SWOSU late into game two as they took a 3-1 lead into the final inning but the Bulldogs were unable to close the door. OBU got four hits in the innings and took advantage of three walks and one error by SWOSU to score six runs and take control of the game.
 
SWOSU got just four hits in the effort with Kailen Clemmer going 1-for-2 and batting in two runs to lead the way. Molly Vivo pitched the first 6.0 innings of the game and started the seventh inning before being replaced by Mallory Davis and Jordan Haney to close the game. Davis took the loss, falling to 0-6, after allowing four hits and four runs while recording two outs in the seventh inning.
 
 
SWOSU and Ouachita Baptist conclude the series with a doubleheader starting at noon from the Athletic Complex.
