Soccer Duels to a 1-1 Tie with West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas – The SWOSU soccer team was looking for the programs first-ever win against West Texas A&M on Thursday night, but instead came away with a 1-1 tie in the match.
 
The team's played a scoreless first half with SWOSU outshooting WT 7-2. It was the Lady Buffs who struck first in the second half, getting on the board with a goal from Emily Krenek in the 48th minute. Alexis Russell scored the lone goal for SWOSU to knot the match up at 1-1, which is where the score would stay.
 
SWOSU attempted 17 shots and 11 shots on goal as opposed to 12 shots and nine on goal by West Texas A&M. Russell led SWOSU with five shot attempts while Jessica Carbonara and reigning GAC Offensive Player of the Week Samantha Nunez attempted three shots apiece. Courtney Flores made her first start of the year in goal, allowing one goal and making seven saves in 110 minutes of action.
 
The Lady Bulldogs are now 1-1-1 on the year and they return home on Sunday to open up a three-game homestand against Nebraska-Kearney. That match will begin at 1 pm from the SWOSU Athletic Complex.
