WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Alison Cole and Joey Collins led SWOSU with 15 kills apiece as the Bulldogs picked up the season-sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday night at Rankin Williams Fieldhouse. SWOSU won the match in four sets by scores of 25-14, 25-21, 21-25, 25-23.

After being tied at 8-8 in the first set, the Bulldogs scored four straight points on Collins' serve and never looked back, taking the set 25-14 while committing just two hitting errors and hitting .381. Collins had five kills and no errors in the set to lead the way while SWOSU held Southeastern to a negative hitting percentage.

SWOSU scored the opening four points in the second set and led throughout, taking a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-21 victory for the set. Momentum turned early in the third set when Southeastern rushed out to a 9-3 lead, but SWOSU responded and tied it up at 15-15 midway through. The Bulldogs never managed to take the lead, however, and were forced to a fourth set after the Savage Storm won by a count of 25-21.

The Bulldogs found themselves in a deficit early in the fourth as well, trailing 7-2 right out of the gate before charging to tie it at 7-7 while Breann Whitaker was serving. Southeastern responded with seven of the next 10 points but SWOSU took control of the set once Saasha Jacobson went back to serve. The Bulldogs scored six straight points on Jacobson's serve to take an 18-14 lead that they would not relinquish. Collins put the match away at 25-23 on her 15th kill of the night.

Cole and Collins led the way with 15 kills apiece and each hit over .300 after committing just three hitting errors. As a team, the Bulldogs hit .232 after putting down 47 kills against 15 errors in 138 total attempts. Whitaker initiated the offense well, recording 39 assists and scoring on five kills without an attack error. Kenya Williams had a team-high 14 digs and Kaila Lancaster had 12 for the Bulldogs defense.

The victory improves SWOSU to 13-19 on the year and they close out the Great American Conference portion of the schedule with an 8-6 record. The Bulldogs tie for fourth place in the regular season standings with Ouachita Baptist and East Central but will be the fifth seed in the GAC Tournament next weekend in Hot Springs, Ark., where they will face fourth-seed OBU.

Before getting to the tournament, however, SWOSU wraps up the regular season with Senior Day on Saturday against Midwestern State. That match will start at 2 pm following a ceremony to honor the Bulldogs four seniors: Alison Cole, Christina Darras, Saasha Jacobson and Breann Whitaker.
