Nunez Goal Earns Bulldogs Key Road Win

DALLAS, Texas – Despite finishing the match with seven fewer shots and just three shots on goal, the SWOSU soccer team made their opportunities count as they picked up a crucial 1-0 victory at Dallas Baptist on Friday afternoon.


 
Samantha Nunez converted on her lone shot of the afternoon, beating DBU goalkeeper Kerry Edwards in the 71st minute to score the game's only goal. The unassisted goal was the fourth by Nunez so far this season.
 
Courtney Flores turned back eight shots by the Patriots, including five in the second half, on the way to her fifth victory of the season and fourth shutout. She is now 5-1-2 as the Bulldogs' goalkeeper.
 
SWOSU (6-2-1, 2-0-1 GAC) was limited to eight shots in the match with Ashley McMahon and Eva Rule the only players to get off more than one attempt. DBU attempted 15 shots with eight of them being on goal.
 
Great American Conference play resumes for the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon when they visit Northwestern Oklahoma State for a 3 pm match.
