2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Football Teams (pdf)
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Two members of the SWOSU Football team have been selected to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football teams, which were released on Thursday to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
For the second consecutive season, SWOSU senior defensive back
Cameron Nix earned a selection to the team while sophomore offensive lineman
Brandon Roe also garnered the award this season. Both players carry a perfect 4.0 grade point average, with Nix majoring in Biology while Roe is studying Engineering Technology. Both players now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
The Academic All-district teams include student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. SWOSU is a member of Super Region 3, which includes schools from the Great American Conference, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
This is second straight season that the Bulldogs have placed two players on the CoSIDA Academic All-District team after previously not having a player earn the distinction since 2007. SWOSU has now had 10 players earn Academic All-District honors, with Nix becoming the Bulldogs first two-time selection.
SWOSU Football returns to action this Saturday, facing Arkansas Tech at 2:00 pm from ASAP Energy Field in Weatherford.
