RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU junior outfielder
Kotaro Wakui has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week for week six, the league office announced Tuesday.
Wakui is the second Bulldog to earn the weekly honor this season, joining
Landon Meyer who was recognized in week two.
Against Southern Nazarene last week, Wakui went 7-for-9 at the plate during SWOSU's three-game sweep of the Crimson Storm. He doubled, tripled, and drove in three runs in the series opener before adding five more hits across games two and three. In total, Wakui scored five runs and drove in four while reaching base safely 11 times in 13 plate appearances for an .846 on-base percentage.
Wakui currently ranks sixth in the GAC with a .371 batting average. His eight doubles are tied for fifth in the league, while his three triples rank tied for second.
