SWOSU Baseball has claimed individual games against Arkansas Tech and a ranked Harding squad in its first two GAC series of the season, but the Bulldogs will look to secure their first conference series victory this weekend on the road at Oklahoma Baptist.

SWOSU is aiming for its first league series win over the Bison since 2021. The Bulldogs are 11-18 against OBU since the series became an annual matchup in 2016. Their only series victory in Shawnee came in 2017, when SWOSU took two of three from the Bison.

Offensively, the Dawgs continue to swing it well. They are coming off a 28-run, 26-hit midweek outburst against Southern Nazarene and hold a .363 team batting average on the season. However, that mark dips to .282 in six GAC games, as weekend conference arms have slowed the Bulldog bats through the first two league series.

Oklahoma Baptist enters the weekend at 5-8 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The Bison dropped two of three to Southern Arkansas to open league action before being swept last weekend by Arkansas-Monticello.

Despite their record, OBU has been productive at the plate in conference games, hitting .323 — third-best in the GAC through two weekends. Pitching has been the issue, as the Bison have surrendered a league-high 61 runs in six conference games and carry a 10.52 ERA in GAC play.

Individually, Quinn Johnson ranks third in the GAC with a .510 batting average. Cody Bialas has been Oklahoma Baptist's top arm, logging 22.1 innings with a 3.63 ERA and 25 strikeouts against just eight walks.

For SWOSU, Landon Meyer leads the conference with 32 hits this season. Meyer and teammate John Spoto each have five home runs, tied for second in the GAC behind OBU's Lucas Shaeffer, who leads the league with six. Nolan McCrossin paces the conference with 24 RBI.

Garrett Folmar allowed his first run in extended relief against Harding, tossing 5.2 innings to earn the win. The junior had been scoreless through his previous five appearances. He leads the team with a 0.61 ERA across 14.2 innings of work.

Game one of the series is set for 5:00 p.m. Friday. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1:00 p.m.
