SWOSU Men's Basketball makes its final push toward the postseason with two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Bulldogs face a busy three-game week, beginning with a road trip to Oklahoma Baptist on Monday in a weather-related makeup game, before returning home for the typical Thursday/Saturday slate against Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas.

SWOSU matched a season-high 94 points in a blowout win over Northwestern last week before coming up short in a physical, down-to-the-wire loss to Southern Nazarene.

Entering the week, the Bulldogs sit 7-10 in Great American Conference play (10-13 overall) and are tied for fifth in the standings. SWOSU currently holds a slim edge over two teams sitting at 7-11, who round out the final postseason spots, while two more teams with six league wins remain within striking distance just one game back.

With makeup games scheduled for Monday, the standings will soon even out across the conference in total games played, helping create a clearer postseason picture heading into the final two weekends of the regular season.

Current Standings as of Feb. 15:

Team GAC Record
Ouachita Baptist * 16-2
Oklahoma Baptist * 15-2
Harding * 13-5
Southern Nazarene 11-6
East Central 7-10
SWOSU 7-10
Southern Arkansas 7-11
Henderson State 7-11
Northwestern 6-11
Arkansas Tech 6-12
Southeastern 5-12
Arkansas-Monticello 5-13

SWOSU begins the week with a tough road test Monday against Oklahoma Baptist. The Bison edged the Bulldogs 78-74 back on Dec. 11 in Weatherford and enter the rematch riding a 12-game win streak. Oklahoma Baptist is ranked No. 9 in the latest NABC Division II Poll and remains in pursuit of the regular season conference championship.

The Bulldogs will be looking to snap a long skid inside the Noble Complex, where they have not won since 2017. SWOSU has dropped nine straight games in Shawnee and is 2-9 all-time at OBU.

Later in the week, SWOSU will look to sweep the season series against Arkansas-Monticello after earning a 74-62 win in mid-January. In that matchup, the Bulldogs shot a season-best 59 percent from three-point range, knocking down 10-of-17 attempts.

Historically, the series between SWOSU and UAM has been tight, with the Bulldogs holding a slim 15-14 advantage in the GAC era. In Weatherford, SWOSU is 6-7 against the Weevils.

The week concludes Saturday against Southern Arkansas in a matchup that carries major postseason implications. SWOSU will be looking for payback after suffering a 73-54 loss in Magnolia earlier this season. With the Muleriders sitting in similar territory in the conference standings, Saturday's contest will play a key role in the race for tournament positioning.

Since the formation of the GAC in 2012, SWOSU and Southern Arkansas have been evenly matched, tied 15-15 all-time. The Bulldogs hold a slight edge at home, going 7-6 against the Muleriders in Weatherford.
