WEATHERFORD – With Tuesday's release of the Great American Conference preseason coaches' poll, the start of the 2026 SWOSU baseball season is one step closer.
The Bulldogs were picked 10th in the preseason poll, matching their conference finish from a season ago.
Head coach
JR Head enters his second year at the helm after SWOSU posted a 24-23 overall record in 2025, including an 11-21 mark in Great American Conference play.
SWOSU will play 50 regular-season games in 2026, including 30 at home. 12 players return from last year's roster, while 24 newcomers (22 transfers and two freshmen) join the program to round out the 36-man roster.
The Bulldogs open the season January 30, beginning a stretch of early home games that includes back-to-back four-game home series against Northwest Missouri State and Adams State, as well as a midweek matchup against Randall. Conference play begins February 13 with a road series in Arkansas.
The opening round of the GAC postseason tournament begins the first weekend of May, should the Bulldogs qualify.
