WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Baseball senior outfielder Gage Gaunt was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Central Region Player of the Week, announced Wednesday by the organization.
It's Gaunt's second honor of the week after he earned GAC Player of the Week recognition on Tuesday. He becomes the first Bulldog to earn regional player of the week honors by the NCBWA since Enzo Bonventre was recognized in 2022.
Gaunt went 11-for-17 (.647) at the plate in four games for the Bulldogs last week, helping SWOSU to a 3-1 record and a conference series win against Southeastern Oklahoma State. He belted four home runs, with at least one in each game of the three-game series, and added two doubles to his extra-base hit total. Gaunt finished the week with 10 RBIs, six runs scored, and a 1.471 slugging percentage.
SWOSU returns to action with the final home series of the regular season this weekend. They host Ouachita Baptist for a doubleheader at noon on Friday, April 11 and will end the series on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Seniors will be honored prior to Saturday's action.
