RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Gage Gaunt was named the Great American Conference Player of the Week for week 10, announced Tuesday by the league office.
It's SWOSU's second player of the week this season after Bodi Wallar was the GAC's first recipient back in week one.
Gaunt led the conference with a .647 batting average last week, finishing 11-for-17 at the plate with a whopping 1.471 slugging percentage. He hit at least one home run in every game of SWOSU's weekend series against Southeastern Oklahoma State, capped off by a 4-for-6 performance in Monday's rubber match helping lift the Bulldogs to a series victory over the Savage Storm. In that game, Gaunt homered and scored twice with five RBI.
In four game's including last Tuesday's midweek win against Oklahoma Christian, Gaunt racked up four home runs, two doubles, 10 RBI, six runs scored, and an on-base percentage of .684.
He and the Bulldogs are back at home this weekend to host Ouachita Baptist in continued conference play. SWOSU will need his hot bat to continue, as they look to climb back into the postseason mix with the final month of the regular season well underway.
