ENID, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball had two seniors earn All-Great American Conference honors on Wednesday after both Bodi Wallar and Gage Gaunt received First Team selections. Wallar was one of four unanimous selections in the league.
Wallar (Papillion, Neb.) finished the regular season with a .392 batting average, ranked third highest in the conference. He led the team with 65 hits, 12 doubles, and 46 RBI and ended the year on a 17-game hitting streak while reaching base at least once in each of the final 29 games. Wallar had 20 multi-hit games including a 4-5 game against Southern Nazarene and drove in at least two runs 13 times this season including a 6-RBI game against Colorado School of Mines. He was named a GAC Player of the Week one this season.
Gaunt (Clinton, Okla.) was a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Central Region Player of the Week this year after his series against Southeastern that saw him hit four home runs with another two doubles and 10 RBIs. He tied for 11th in the GAC with a .357 batting average, while leading the team with 11 home runs and three triples. He also matched Wallar with 12 doubles while finishing just under him with 61 hits and 45 RBI. Gaunt had 17 multi-hit games including a 4-6 game against Southeastern and drove in at least two runs 14 times this season including a pair of 5-RBI games against Southeastern and Oklahoma Baptist.
Academically, Garrett Coiner and Eric Foufoulas were two of 13 recipients of the GAC Elite Scholar Award – given to those holding the highest GPA in the conference with at least 70 hours of completed classwork. Both Coiner and Foufoulas hold perfect 4.0 GPAs.
SWOSU had nine placed on the Academic Honor Roll, an honor earned by holding a minimum 3.5 GPA with one year of full-time college residency completed. Those included: Ryan Dugas, Ty Eastwood, Connor Jeffers, Zane Leonard, Philip Sanders, Kael Shelite, Marshyl Stennett, Trey Thomas, and Rusty Wortman.
