SPRING, Texas – The SWOSU women's golf team kicked off the spring schedule with a condensed one day, 36-hole tournament where both
Freya Sala and
Ashlyn Acosta notched top 12 placings and the team finished 10th.
Seven of the 15 teams in the tournament field entered ranked inside the top 25 according to Clippd Scoreboard's rankings, and 12 of the 15 were inside the top 50 including SWOSU. No. 4-ranked Dallas Baptist (+18) won the event for the second year in a row with No. 13 West Texas A&M (+21) finishing as the runner-up two strokes back.
Sala was SWOSU's lowest scorer with her rounds of 74-73 for a +5 finish. She tallied three birdies in the final round, helping her shoot one-under par on the back nine.
Acosta shot the lowest round of Lady Bulldog with her final round 72 (+1). She posted 26 pars over the 36 holes, the fourth most out of any golfer in the 83-player field.
Drew Dodgion finished her scorecard with a 78-74 mark and had four birdies in her final round.
London Wilson carded two rounds of 82 for a +22 finish, with three birdies on the day.
Lucia Rivas rounded out SWOSU by shooting a +32 (84-90) with 10 pars in her opening round.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on March 3-4 at the Diffee Ford/Lincoln Invitational held at Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond, Oklahoma.
