EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Basketball was held to an early-season low of 51 points in a 67-51 loss at Central Oklahoma on Tuesday night.
Despite the cold shooting, the Bulldogs trailed just 27-23 at halftime. However, the second half followed a similar script as UCO posted another 50% shooting half and pushed the lead to double digits midway through, maintaining control the rest of the way.
SWOSU shot 33% from the field, finishing at 35% or lower in both halves. From three-point range, the Bulldogs went 7-of-29, with a bright spot coming from
Cade Hartley, who knocked down all three attempts from deep.
Eighteen turnovers proved costly, leading to 25 Broncho points. UCO committed 11 turnovers in comparison. The Bronchos shot nearly 53% overall but were held to 3-of-11 (27%) from beyond the arc. Both teams were solid at the line—SWOSU at 14-for-16 and UCO at 10-for-12.
UCO's starters produced 63 of the team's 67 points. SWOSU's bench provided most of the Bulldog offense, led by
Kayden Carter's team-high 10 points.
The loss drops SWOSU to 1-2 on the season, while UCO improves to 2-1. The Bulldogs continue their road stretch on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. tipoff at Oklahoma Christian.
