SWOSU Men's Basketball continues its road-heavy start to the 2025-26 season with two trips to the OKC metro this week, facing Central Oklahoma on Wednesday and Oklahoma Christian on Saturday.

The Bulldogs opened the year 1-1, rolling past Newman 82-68 in a wire-to-wire win before dropping a tight 77-76 contest to Missouri Southern.

Junior guard Ty Frierson made an immediate impact in his Bulldog debut, scoring 24 points in 29 minutes against Newman. He added 17 more against MSSU and leads SWOSU with 20.5 points per game through two outings.

Another newcomer, Kayden Carter, scored in double figures in both games and posted a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double against Newman. Carter and Elijah Jordan are each averaging eight rebounds per game. Jordan matched Frierson with 17 points versus MSSU and grabbed eight boards in both contests.

As a team, SWOSU shot 43% from the field and 30% from beyond the arc (14-for-47) on opening weekend, while going 34-for-52 at the foul line. Both opponents shot a higher overall percentage than the Bulldogs.

One early-season advantage for SWOSU has been the turnover margin. The Dawgs have forced 28 turnovers while committing just 15—nearly a two-to-one ratio that held strong in both games.

UCO enters Wednesday at 3-2 after playing three additional early-season games. The Bronchos swept last weekend's regional challenge with double-digit wins over Minnesota Crookston and GAC foe Arkansas-Monticello. They are averaging 67 points per game, shooting nearly 45% as a team, and holding opponents under 39% from the field. Three Bronchos are scoring in double figures, led by Josh Nwankwo at 19.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

UCO went 19-13 overall and 10-9 in MIAA action last year, advancing through three rounds of the MIAA Tournament before falling 72-71 to Fort Hays State in the championship after a potential game-winner rimmed out.

SWOSU defeated UCO 65-57 last season in Weatherford and has won five of the last six meetings dating back to 2011-12.

Oklahoma Christian begins its season Tuesday night at home against Randall University before hosting SWOSU on Saturday. The Eagles finished 9-18 overall and 6-16 in conference play last year under seventh-year head coach Kendre Talley.

SWOSU topped OC 76-67 last season. In the five Division II-era matchups between the programs, the Bulldogs hold a narrow 3-2 series edge, with the combined scoring margin across all five games totaling just 21 points.
