NASHVILLE, Tenn. – SWOSU volleyball faced off against two teams they have never seen before to start the season at the Ray Thrasher Classic. The Dawgs took care of Davenport (MI) in straight sets in the morning session before ending the evening with a 3-0 loss vs Quincy (IL).
SWOSU will look to close out the trip to Nashville with an early morning contest against Alabama-Huntsville at 9:00 am. This too will be the first meeting between teams.

W, 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-19)
SWOSU's return to the court for the 2024 campaign started how they would like to write it up – with a sweep over the Panthers for their first win of this young season.
Sets one and three for the Dawgs were similar in many ways. Both sets were neck and neck, with both teams tied 18-18 in each set before SWOSU eventually came alive in the end to put away the Panthers for good.
In set two, the Dawgs had to fight off a set point trailing 24-23 before rattling off three straight points to win it. The run was capped off by a
Lacy Mott kill, one of her game high 12 in the match.
Terez Chavez (7),
Keke Holloway (7), and
Jada Permenter (6) accounted for the most digs for SWOSU, while Chavez and
Cameron Turner combined for 25 assists. The offense hit a blistering .414 in the first set and overcame eight errors in the second set in the sweep.
SWOSU vs Quincy
L, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25,18)
SWOSU couldn't pull off an undefeated day after falling to Quincy, an NCAA tournament team a year ago, in the second game.
Terez Chavez (10) and
Cameron Turner (9) led the way for SWOSU with assists.
Lacy Mott led the way with kills (10) for the Dawgs. No other Bulldog notched more than six.
Final hitting numbers had SWOSU at .110 compared to the Hawks at .336. SWOSU had 18 errors in the match, nine of which came in the opening set.
