EDMOND, Okla. – For the second time this season, SWOSU Women's Golf took home the top spot of a tournament after winning the Diffee Ford/Lincoln Invitational held at Kickingbird Golf Course.
The Lady Bulldogs got three top-5 finishes from
Rebecca Lau,
Drew Dodgion, and
Megan Brown. SWOSU entered Tuesday's final round leading the field by seven strokes and maintained that exact distance by the conclusion of the round.
Lau, who missed the individual title by two strokes, shot even par in her first round thanks to a pair of eagles on holes 4 and 15. She added four strokes in Tuesday's final round and finished second overall in the tournament.
Dodgion, directly behind Lau on the leaderboard, parred 16 of 18 holes in her opening round to match Lau but fell one stroke back in the final round and finished third overall.
Brown carded rounds of 72 and 75 and was fourth overall. She birdied back-to-back holes in round one, No. 7 and 8.
Freya Sala had a solid first round but was 12-over par in the second round and finished as SWOSU's fourth golfer, tied for 21st overall.
Rounding out the team was
Ashlyn Acosta who was one stroke back from Sala by tournament's end. Acosta nailed a hole-in-one on No. 16 on Tuesday, adding onto the program's recent hole-in-one frenzy. She's the sixth SWOSU golfer (men/women) to have a hole-in-one since the start of February, but the first to do so in actual tournament play.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back to action in Miami Shores, Florida on March 18-19. They have two tournaments remaining in the regular season leading up to the GAC Championships in late April.
