RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Softball standouts Chesnie Hewitt and Courtney Hill were named the Great American Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week following their great weekends against Ouachita Baptist.
It's the first time since competing in the GAC dating back to 2012 that both a SWOSU position player and fielder earn the recognition in the same week. Hill becomes the second different SWOSU pitcher to be honored this season, joining teammate Blaire Gentry who did so following week one.
Against Ouachita where two of the three games were shortened due to run-rule and thus limited her at-bats, Hewitt finished 5-for-7 (.714 BA) with a home run, a double, three RBI, three runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases for an on-base percentage of .778.
Hill threw SWOSU's first no-hitter since 2019 in game two on Friday against the Tigers. Her final line was 5.0 innings pitched with six strikeouts, two walked, and 17 batters faced.
The Bulldogs swept Ouachita, moving to 6-8 on the season and 3-0 in the GAC. They go on the road this weekend where they'll face Southeastern in continued league play.
