Lady Bulldogs Tripped Up at Southeastern

DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU Women's Basketball led 55-51 entering the fourth quarter of Saturday's road matchup against Southeastern, but could not close things out in a 68-64 loss.

The Lady Bulldogs suffer a fourth straight setback and move to 12-12 on the year and 9-9 in GAC play.

SWOSU closed the game shooting just 3-of-11 in the fourth quarter and was 2-for-5 at the free-throw line. Southeastern didn't do much better from the field at 4-11, but they got to the foul line 12 times and knocked down eight of them to outscore SWOSU 17-9 in the quarter.

After a slow start to the game, the Lady Bulldogs trailed 17-8 in the first quarter before closing on a 9-2 run to get within two by quarter's end. SWOSU used that momentum to outscore the Savage Storm in the second quarter and took a 36-34 lead into halftime.

After edging the home team in the third quarter, they led by four with 10 minutes to play but could not hang on.

Hailey Grant led the offense with 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting as the only Lady Bulldog to reach double figures.

Final numbers showed SWOSU shooting 38% as a team and 43% from three on 9-of-21 attempts. They were 9-of-13 at the foul line. Southeastern finished at 39% from the field but was held to 4-of-18 from deep. They shot 36 free throws in the game, making 26 of them – both season highs for them.

SWOSU returns home next week to face Arkansas Tech and Harding on the usual Thursday/Saturday slate. Three of the final four games in the regular season will be played in Weatherford.
