BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Golf captured a third-place finish at the annual Tulsa Cup behind two top five individual finishes including
Jack Phillips, who took home the individual title.
It's SWOSU's best placing of any stroke play tournament this season.
Host team Rogers State (+43) won the tournament by two strokes over Washburn (+45) while SWOSU rounded out the top three with a total score of 913; 300-308-305 (+49).
Phillips took home the championship with an even par score throughout the three rounds of play. He shot a 70 (-2) in the final round including four under on the back nine to boost ahead of the competition and claim his first win of the season. Phillips was among the top of many statistics by the end of the tournament. He finished top three in average par 3 scoring at 3.00, while also leading the way with teammate
Conrado Diaz Ermacora in par 4 average score at 4.00. His 10 birdies also tied for the most of any golfer in the field.
Diaz Ermacora has improved his tournament finishes in every event so far this year, leading to his first top five placing highlighted by a 71 (-1) in round two. While leading with Phillips for average par 4 score, Ermacora added seven birdies through the three rounds to cap off his fall season on a strong note.
Lucas Vidal finished at +18 after the three rounds. He had six birdies, and his best round came in the opening frame of the tournament with a +3 (75) which was highlighted by two birdies on the front nine.
Mariano Racca (+32) in his first tournament for the Dawgs along with
Ryan Carlisle (+32) closed it out for the Bulldogs, each finished with three birdies on their scorecards.
SWOSU has now wrapped up the fall portion of the schedule and will look forward to time away from competition before hitting the course again in the spring of 2025.
