DURANT, Okla. – Bulldog Baseball heads on the road this weekend as they travel to play in a three-game Great American Conference series in Durant against Southeastern Oklahoma State. The teams will take the field on Saturday to play a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm and will finish out the series on Sunday with a single game also starting at 12:00 pm.
The Dawgs are looking to keep their momentum going as they won their first conference series against Ouachita last weekend. Including their midweek win this past Tuesday, they have won three of their last four games. The Savage Storm are trying to get back to their winning ways after dropping their conference series against Monticello last weekend, they stand at 2-4 in conference standings and tied with SWOSU.
SWOSU's offense is looking to continue the electrifying performance they had last week, thanks to the help of
Alex Rice and
Jackson Syring. Rice had an on base percentage of .429 with three stolen bases in the Ouachita series, while Syring hit .385 with five runs scored and a slugging percentage of .615. Rice looks to tally on to his lead for stolen bases, as he leads all of the GAC with 10 on the year. Syring will try to stay as a run scoring machine. He's tied for third in the GAC, crossing home plate 20 times already this season.
The pitching staff seems to have found a solid one-two punch in conference play.
Matt Milner and
Jackson Phillips both had quality starts this past weekend to help secure wins. Milner is looking to repeat on his six scoreless inning performance, while Phillips is looking to retain the lead team in ERA (3.43) while also keeping hitters guessing as he is tied for third place in the GAC in strikeouts with 31.
When the Bulldogs and the Savage Storm met up last season in Weatherford, SWOSU lost the series 2-1 by scores of 10-7, 21-24 and 7-9.
