SAN ANTONIO, Texas – SWOSU Men's Golf got a top-five finish from
Anders Strand at the Rattler Invitational and finished eighth as a team to open up the spring portion of the 2022-23 season.
Cameron won the tournament by a single stroke, edging Dallas Baptist for the top spot. St. Mary's, the host school, finished third overall.
It was Strand's second top-five finish of the season. He finished tied for fifth after shooting one-over par through three rounds. He carded an even 72 in both his first and last round, sandwiched between a 73 (+1) in round two. He has now led SWOSU on the leaderboard in three events this year.
Conner Boydston was the next best finisher for the Bulldogs. He was 11 shots behind Strand with back-to-back 75s in the final two rounds after shaving three strokes off his opening round score. Both he and Strand recorded eagles in the tournament.
75 (+3) represented Boydston (T27th),
Sutton McMillan (T40th) and
Lukas Hendricks' (T42nd) lowest rounds of the event. Max Bialy (56th) rounded out the team as the final finisher.
SWOSU will play in three more tournaments before the GAC Championships in April. The next event will be two weeks from now at the Warrior Invitational held in Henderson, Nevada at The Legacy Golf Club.
