STILLWATER, Okla. – SWOSU grabbed a pair of top-5 team finishes at the Oklahoma State Rodeo over the weekend, highlighted by three event winners and an all-around champion.
 
The women's team finished third with average wins from Braylee Ward and Catherine Clayton, while the men were fourth behind another Marley Berger victory. In three rodeos this fall, the women have finished no worse than third. The men placing fourth also represents their best finish.
 
Ward, in Barrel Racing, swept through both rounds with the fastest times in each to claim her first win at SWOSU. She posted times of 15.87 seconds (long round) and 15.81 (short go). Meanwhile, Clayton had identical times of 2.3 seconds in the Breakaway which secured her a tie for fifth in the long round and a victory in Saturday's short go. She also wins for the first time at SWOSU.     
 
For the second time in three rodeos, the women had the all-around winner after Hadley Teut took home the title. She finished inside the top-10 in Goat Tying and inside the top-5 in Team Roping.
 
Other strong performances from the Lady Dawgs included Libby Berger's tie for second place in Breakaway and a sixth-place finish by Hadley Tate in Barrel Racing.
 
For the men – it's Marley Berger's second consecutive rodeo finishing as the Tie Down champion. He won the long round with a 7.8 second time and closed things out with a 10-flat in the short go.   
 
Saddle Bronc riders Brody McAbee and Dahlyn Thomas finished next to each other in fourth and fifth respectively. McAbee's 75-point ride in the short round propelled him past Thomas in the average despite consistent 70 & 71 scores from Thomas. Both cowboys set season highs in point totals. 
 
The fall college rodeo season wraps up this upcoming week, October 26-28, at Northwestern Oklahoma State's rodeo in Alva. Action will pick up after winter break in February at Kansas State.
