SHAWNEE, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Basketball trailed by just three points at the halfway point of Thursday's road contest against Oklahoma Baptist but shot 30% from the field in the second half and did not connect on a three-point shot in 17 chances in route to an 80-64 defeat.
The Dawgs could not get much of anything to fall through the basket in the second half. Alongside their 0-for three-point shooting was a 9-for-20 performance from the free throw line in the game's final 20 minutes.
The first half was a different story. SWOSU went stride for stride with Oklahoma Baptist to start the game after shooting 52% overall and knocking down 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. They led by as many as seven points multiple times and held a 20-13 lead past the midway point of the half before OBU clawed back to regain the lead for good.
The Dawgs trailed the entire duration of the second half.
Mark Berry led SWOSU in scoring on the night with 13 points and missed a double-double by one rebound. It's the first time this season he has outpaced his teammates in points.
Chris Braggs, Jr. became the fourth Bulldog in Division II history to eclipse the 1,000-point career scoring mark. He entered the contest four points away and finished with 11 in the game.
The loss drops SWOSU back to 7-8 on the year and 3-6 in GAC play. The Dawgs get to play their next four games in Weatherford, starting with Southeastern on Saturday. Tipoff for that game will come at an earlier 1pm time.
