ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Lady Bulldogs took a loss at the hands of Henderson State on Saturday afternoon, 85-65.
This loss makes SWOSU 3-10 on the season and 3-5 in GAC play. Their next time on the court will be Thursday when league leading Oklahoma Baptist hosts the Lady Dawgs.
It was essentially the same game script as last game. The first and second quarters were quite competitive. The Reddies ran out to an early 12-2 lead, but SWOSU kept the pace. They went back and forth with HSU throughout the first half and were only down five at the intermission.
Henderson State came out of the break focused and extended the lead to double digits multiple times in the third period. SWOSU shot abysmal in this quarter. The past game foreshadowed how the fourth quarter of this one would go.
Three-point shooting sparked a run right out of the fourth quarter gates. Before the Lady Bulldogs knew it, their hole went from nine points to 17 points in two and a half minutes. SWOSU just ran out of gas and the gap never got closer than that for the rest of the game.
SWOSU shot 39% overall and 32% from three. Henderson State shot 48% from the field and 52% from three. SWOSU got to the line 27 times, but did not convert well. They only shot 59% at the free throw line. Henderson State dominated the glass, ending the game with a 47-28 advantage on the boards.
Morgan Smith had a team high 16 points.
Shamica Smith added 11 points and five rebounds.
Layni Zinn also scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
