Ouachita’s Late Run Downs Lady Bulldogs

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – SWOSU women's basketball team took a 82-67 loss at the hands of a hot shooting Ouachita Baptist team.

SWOSU moves to 3-9 overall and 3-4 GAC on the season. They will continue this Arkadelphia trip on Saturday when they take on Henderson State at 1:00 pm.

The Tigers had the best shooting splits of any GAC team coming into this game and they showed why in the first quarter. They shot a blistering 67% from the field and 80% from three to jump out to a 15-point lead.

SWOSU kept in the game, simply off of the volume of their offense. They had 14 more shot attempts than Ouachita in the first 20 minutes. This is from causing 15 first half Tiger turnovers. Their shots began falling and they rattled off a 10-0 run near the end of the half to cut the deficit down to five at the break.

A foul heavy third quarter led to the Lady Bulldogs cutting the lead down a bit more. While they didn't shoot well from the floor, going 10-10 from the charity strike helped SWOSU be down one with 10 minutes to go.

The wheels then fell off as Ouachita went on a 22-5 run in the fourth. OBU dominated every aspect of the game in the final period to put the game away. SWOSU just ran out of gas after fighting to stay close the entire game.

SWOSU shot 33% from the floor and 30% from three. Ouachita was 49% from the field and 53% from behind the arc. OBU turned the ball over 23 times to SWOSU's 13. The Tigers' rebounding efforts was massive tonight. They outrebounded SWOSU 53-24. OBU's Grayson Fairless had 12 rebounds herself, half of SWOSU's team total.

Averi Zinn totaled 16 points, four steals, and three assists. Layni Zinn also had 16 points and grabbed three rebounds. Macy Gore added 15 points, five assists, and four steals.
