WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The turf replacement project inside Milam Stadium giving Flex-Chem Field a new look has been completed on time and is ready for use in preparation for the 2022 football season.
"The turf project was a success," said SWOSU Athletic Director
Todd Helton. "We're so excited for our student-athletes to get to compete on the new surface and we're looking forward to kicking off the new era of SWOSU Football in style! We cannot thank Mammoth (turf company) enough for their partnership throughout this process and hard work that got the job done."
The new design features updated logos, alternating turf colors, and larger updated Flex-Chem sponsorship logos on both sides of the field, while also replacing the field goal posts and adding netting behind the south end zone.
Bryce Conway, founder of Flex-Chem and a SWOSU alumni, approved of the final product. "The new turf and the collective SWOSU and Flex-Chem logos are definitely an eye-catching combination," said Conway. He jokingly continued. "We're very thankful Flex-Chem's blue and white brand colors correspond and match SWOSU colors!"
Founded in 2002 by 1995 SWOSU alumnus Bryce Conway, Flex-Chem is a technology company recognized as a leader in providing innovative chemical solutions in the energy production industry. Flex-Chem maintains operations in Weatherford, Edmond, Ada, and Pecos, Texas.
Conway's support for the Bulldogs is obvious, and inversely, SWOSU's appreciation for Conway and his company is immeasurable. Flex-Chem's generous sponsorship commitment provides financial resources to SWOSU's athletic programs.
"I am very proud to be a Bulldog and it is such an honor to sit in the stands and see Flex-Chem's name on both sides of the SWOSU football field. But ultimately this opportunity comes from the comprehensive education I received at SWOSU."
In recognition of Flex-Chem's support, the SWOSU football field is called 'Flex-Chem Field at Milam Stadium' with the first home football game of the season being styled 'The Flex-Chem Kickoff Classic.'
"Not only are we looking forward to attending Bulldog football games this fall, but we are especially excited to host the second annual Flex-Chem Football Classic which kicks off September 10th vs. Southern Arkansas University!"
SWOSU football will begin a new era when hosting the Flex-Chem Football Classic this year – an era that includes a new head coach, staff, and now playing surface.
The season kicks off one week prior, September 1, on the road at Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
