GUYMON, Okla. – The SWOSU rodeo team wrapped up the 2021-22 circuit at the Panhandle State Rodeo over weekend where the women finished third and the men eighth.
With the quality finish, the women's team secured the Central Plains Women's Reserve Championship as the No. 2-ranked team in the region. In doing so, they qualify to compete at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in June. SWOSU will send
Sadie Wolaver,
Abby Hepper,
Winter Williams, and
Alli Masters to the national rodeo.
Wolaver was crowned the region champion in barrel racing following the completion of the OPSU Rodeo, while both Hepper (barrel racing) and Williams (breakaway) were named reserve champions.
Though the men's team did not collectively qualify,
Marley Berger will compete at the CNFR after finishing the season atop of the region rankings in tie down roping.
The women's team had six top-3 finishes this season including wins at the Oklahoma State and Garden City Rodeos, while the men ended with three top-3 finishes and a win at the Fort Scott Rodeo.
The CNFR will be held in Casper, Wyoming June 12-18.
