Sluggish through the first two innings, SWOSU found life in the third following a blunder by the Rangers. With two outs, a
Jean Ortiz pop up skied in the infield and miscommunication caused the ball to drop and the inning to extend. The play scored a run and was followed by RBI singles from
Zach Baxley and
JC Reed who put SWOSU out in front 4-3.

SWOSU scored three more runs in the fourth inning to grab a 7-4 lead. Ortiz walked with the bases loaded, followed by Baxley who brought in a run on a sacrifice fly and
Enzo Bonventre who singled.

Northwestern posted back-to-back three-run innings in the six and seventh to regain the lead and earn the win.

Ramon Vingochea doubled in two runs in the seventh and eventually moved to third base but with two outs, Ortiz struck out to end the game.

Four pitchers threw in the game. Perez-Guzman got the start, followed by
Grant Ewy,
Dakota Jones, and
Matt Hopkins. Jones was handed the decision loss.
