STILLWATER, Okla. – Behind four top-five finishers including Abby Hepper who won the Barrel Racing average, SWOSU Women's Rodeo claimed the top spot at the Oklahoma State Rodeo this past weekend. It is the second straight event the women have finished in first place.
The men's team finished 10th this weekend. They do have an event win already this year though. A SWOSU team, men or women, has won all three rodeos so far to start the 2022-23 season.
Hepper, who entered the weekend fifth in the Central Plains Region in Barrel Racing, sat seventh after the long round and shaved .21 seconds off in her short round time. After the dust settled, her two times were the best of any competitor to win the average.

Libby Berger finished right behind Hepper in second overall. Her 16.40 second time Saturday won the short round.
Chenoa VandeStouwe was a consistent second place goat tyer. She wrangled times of 7.6 and 7.7 seconds and finished second in both and then second in the average. Hadley Teut had an 8.0 short round time in Goat Tying as her best finish of the weekend and finished fourth overall.
SWOSU will be back on the college circuit up in Alva, Oklahoma on Oct. 27-29.
