Preview

• With four games remaining in the regular season, the SWOSU Men’s Basketball team is deadlocked into a tight battle for positioning in the Great American Conference’s Western Division

• The Bulldogs will play three of their final four games on the road, visiting Southeastern (Feb. 20), Northwestern (Feb. 22) and Oklahoma Baptist (Feb. 27) while also hosting Southern Nazarene (Feb. 25) for Senior Night

• SWOSU is currently tied for fourth place in the GAC’s Western Division, but they are also one of four teams within one game of second place with four to play

• The Bulldogs enter the final week of the season on a three-game slide, with all three losses coming by a combined 10 points, and they’ve dropped below .500 for the first time this season at 6-7

• By order of the Great American Conference Council of Presidents, a limited guest list has been approved and will allow players and coaches to permit selected individuals into home contests

SWOSU NOTES

• SWOSU remains the highest-scoring team in the conference by a wide margin, averaging 82.2 points per game and outscoring opponents by 4.5 points per game for the season

• The Bulldogs rank third in the GAC, shooting 46.1% from the field and they’re fifth in three-point shooting at 36.6% from long range for the year

• The strength of the defense for SWOSU has been in forcing turnovers, where they are causing 14.5 per game and have the league’s second-best turnover margin at +3.69

• Leading the Bulldogs charge this season is junior Damion Thornton, who ranks third in the GAC in scoring (16.9 ppg) and second in rebounding (9.2 rpg)

• Thornton has led the Dawgs in scoring five times this season and he’s reached double figures in 11-of-13 games with a season-high of 24 points on two occasions

• Tauriawn Knight has emerged as the Bulldogs second scorer, putting up 20 or more points in three games and averaging 15.2 points per game

• Knight leads the Bulldogs and ranks fifth in the GAC with 34 made three-pointers this season and he’s joined by Jaylan Williams (18), Kamden Gipson (18) and Bralyn James (14) as players with more than 10 made threes this season

• James has hit at least one three-pointer in four straight games and seven times this season overall and he’s shooting a team-best 46.7% (14-30) from downtown

• Chris Braggs, Jr., has matched his season high with 17 points in both of SWOSU’s last two matchups with Oklahoma Baptist and he’s now averaging 10.6 points per game for the year

• Gipson has the second-best assist:turnover ratio in the conference at 2.9:1, with a team-high 41 assists to his credit against just 14 turnovers
