Bulldogs Calm Crimson Storm

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Men's Basketball picked up another win in conference on Tuesday following a 77-72 victory over Southern Nazarene.

The Bulldogs have now won two conference games after starting 0-2 in league play.

Both teams ended the contest looking similar on the stat sheet. SWOSU shot an efficient 48% from the field as a team compared to SNU's 45%.

In a five-point game, the free throw line proved to be the difference maker – as the Dawgs shot 18-for-20 (90%) from the charity stripe, while the Crimson Storm finished just 13-of-22 (59%).

SWOSU battled through an early first-half deficit to keep things close through the game's first 20 minutes. The Dawgs found themselves down nine points with 6:17 left before halftime but responded with a 7-0 run that included a Chris Braggs, Jr. dunk to extinguish any momentum.

In the second half, it was the Bulldogs who built up a game best eight-point lead in the closing minutes of the game. SNU had the game within a single possession in the final minute, but SWOSU was able to make free throws to ice it away.

Braggs Jr. finished with a game high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Damion Thornton, fresh off his GAC Player of the Week honor, added a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. DeAngelo Adkins ended with 12 points.

SWOSU (3-5, 2-2 GAC) will be on the road the next three games, first starting with Dallas Baptist on December 18th at 2pm. The Dawgs won't play again in front of their home crowd until January 6th, 2022.
