LAWTON, Okla. – Six Lady Bulldogs finished in double digits as SWOSU went on to roll Cameron 93-72 for their third straight victory.
After a tight first quarter, SWOSU began to build momentum and push the pressure to grab a double-digit lead going into halftime. The Dawgs outscored Cameron 29-20 in that second period and held the Aggies to under 30% shooting in the first half altogether.
After half, the defense tightened up even further to allow just 14 points in the third quarter. Meanwhile, SWOSU scored 23 as the lead continued to grow. In the third quarter, SWOSU held Cameron to a game low 26% shooting.
The fourth quarter was deadlocked in scoring by both teams, despite Cameron finally warming up offensively and the Dawgs posting their lowest shooting percentage of the game.
Four starters ended in double figures, led by Makyra Tramble who scored 27 points including 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Morgan Smith, off the bench, added 15 points on an efficient 6-for-11 from the field. Lauren Ramey tallied 11 and three Bulldogs finished with 10 – including Layni Zinn and the Gore sisters, Karly and Macy.
As a team, SWOSU shot 47% (33-for-70) from the field and 42% (14-for-33) from beyond the arc. Both teams shared similar rebounding and turnover numbers, but SWOSU did win the tempo battle with 21 fast break points.
The Lady Bulldogs move to 4-2 on the season and have won three straight games. The Dawgs will be back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Pak-A-Sak Classic in Canyon, Texas hosted by West Texas A&M.
