SWOSU Launching a New Chapter in SWOSU Football History

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with locations in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon is embarking on a national search for the next leader of the SWOSU football program.

Current SWOSU Head Football Coach Chet Pobolish has announced his resignation after four years at the helm of the program.

"We have appreciated Coach Pobolish's commitment and dedication to the SWOSU football program and the positive impact he has made on his players over the past few years," said SWOSU Athletic Director Todd Helton.

"SWOSU football has a proud history and rich heritage, and I am confident that Athletic Director Todd Helton will lead us to the next best individual to carry forth that legacy and spirited tradition" said SWOSU President Dr. Diana Lovell.

The SWOSU football program competes in the Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). In 2011, SWOSU became a founding member of the Great American Conference (GAC). The SWOSU football program has won conference championships in 1926, 1932, 1933, 1950, 1954, 1955, 1957, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1974, 1977, 1980, 1985, 1992, 1996, 1997 and 2007. The Bulldogs captured the national championship in 1996.
