SWOSU Volleyball goes 2-0 on the road

SWOSU Volleyball took a road trip to Arkansas and won two Great American Conference games Friday and Saturday.

Friday, they played at Southern Arkansas University and won 3-1. Saturday, they traveled from Magnolia to Monticello and played Arkansas-Monticello. Saturday, they were a bit more battle tested, but overcame the test and won 3-2.

SWOSU (15-6) and (9-2) in GAC play will play their next game, 7 p.m. Thursday at home against East Central in what should be a dandy, as each team has the same record in the GAC and both teams are tied for second, along with Oklahoma Baptist. East Central defeated SWOSU 3-2, earlier this season back on September 24.

 

SWOSU 3, Southern Arkansas 1

SWOSU lost the first set 25-22 in a hard grind it out game. SWOSU bounced back and won the next three sets. They won the second set 25-20, won the third set 27-25 and won the fourth set 25-21. 

Allie Hoang recorded 43 assists and three aces.Samantha Kuzma recorded 13 kills, two aces and a block for SWOSU. Mackenzie Harless and Markenzie Beniot were one shy of tying Kuzma with kills as they recorded 12 kills.They also each recorded two blocks. 

Beniot also recorded two assists. Sophia DeSantiago recorded 23 digs, two assists and an ace. Lacy Mott recorded eight digs and Kylie Talbott recorded six digs.

SWOSU did beat Southern Arkansas in kills (59-57) and assists (53-52). However, Southern Arkansas beat SWOSU in aces (8-7), blocks (5-4) and digs (55-53)

 

SWOSU 3, Arkansas-Monticello 2

Like the set against Southern Arkansas, SWOSU lost the first set, but this time they lost 25-21. SWOSU rallied back and won the second set 26-24, but lost the next one 25-23. With their backs against the wall, SWOSU won the next two sets. They won the fourth set 25-22 and 15-9.

Hoang recorded 46 assists and three aces. Mott recorded 16 kills, 14 digs, four assists and two aces. 

Kuzma recorded 14 kills and three blocks. Beniot also recorded 14 kills and had a block.

DeSantiago recorded 22 digs and four assists. Chavez Terez recorded 12 digs and three aces.  

SWOSU also defeated Arkansas-Monticello in kills (65-59), aces (8-7), assists (58-56) and digs (81-78).

Arkansas-Monticello defeated SWOSU in blocks (7-5).
