WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU Women's Basketball team knocked down 18 three-pointers and defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State 101-64 on Saturday afternoon in a matchup of two teams that tied atop the Great American Conference Western Division Preseason Poll.
SWOSU was led by sophomore
Makyra Tramble who posted career-highs in points (28), three-pointers made (8) and rebounds (17). Tramble, who was one made three-pointer of the Lady Bulldogs program record, also put up five assists and four steals. The other four starters,
Lauren Ramey (11),
Macy Gore (14),
Karly Gore (15) and
Bethany Franks (10) also broke double-digits in a game where the Bulldogs but up 94 shots from the field.
SWOSU only scored 13 points in the first quarter, before turning on the jets, scoring 24 or more in each of the final three quarters. The Lady Bulldogs forced 14 turnovers to help take a 37-31 lead into half before pulling away in the second with the help of big runs throughout and 18 three-pointers made by eight different players.
"We will take the 101 today. We got over the hump in the first half where we didn't shoot as good as we need to but then got it going in the second half," Head Coach
Kelsi Musick said. "We are capable of all of our players scoring and that is what we need."
This win brings the Lady Bulldogs to 2-0 on the season heading into a matchup with in-state rival Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Monday night at 5:30 pm.
