WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU Women Basketball team moved to 3-0 on the young season with an emphatic 93-47 victory over the rival Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State on Monday evening at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
The Lady Bulldogs continue their offensive excellence with a third straight game breaking 90 points and winning by at least 15. SWOSU sophomore
Macy Gore got off to a hot start, scoring 11 of her 21 points in the first quarter and being one of five Lady Bulldogs to reach double digits, where she was joined by
Makyra Tramble (19),
Regan Crawford (13),
Karly Gore (13) and
Taber Beer (11). SWOSU ended the game with great shooting from everywhere on the court with splits of 46% from the field, 42% from three, and 82% from the free throw line.
SWOSU also performed on the other side of the court, forcing 29 total turnovers, including 17 in the first half, using their 'Chaos Defense' to hold the Lady Rangers to only one quarter with more than 12 points, and not allowing a single made three-pointer in the game.
"I thought we came out and played much better," Head Coach
Kelsi Musick said following the game. "I thought we were much more prepared for the zone we knew they were going to run. We knew they wanted to run screens and different sets, so our game plan was to come in and be disruptive."
The Lady Bulldogs will now take their 3-0 record on the road to Bethany on Thursday for a 5:30 pm matchup against Southern Nazarene.
