SHAWNEE, Okla. – After taking a 73-68 lead with 6:15 to play, the SWOSU Men's Basketball team was outscored 22-7 down the stretch as Oklahoma Baptist prevailed 90-80 in a matchup of the Great American Conference Western Division's top teams on Thursday night at the Noble Complex.
Tauriawn Knight scored the first six points of the game for the Bulldogs to kick off a tightly contested first half, where SWOSU went to the locker room down 42-40. The second half featured several of the games nine ties and 17 lead changes, with SWOSU pulling ahead with their biggest lead of five on a three-pointer from Knight with 6:15 to play. From that point on, however, the Dawgs hit just one field goal while OBU closed the game on their big 22-7 run to defeat SWOSU for the second time this season.
SWOSU shot 46.0% (29-63) from the field and they were led by Knight with 19 points, while
Chris Braggs, Jr., controlled the paint and hit 7-of-9 free throws for 17 points in 20 minutes before fouling out.
Damion Thornton posted his fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds and
Kamden Gipson also reached double figures with 11 points despite attempting just three field goals.
The Bulldogs fall to 5-3 on the season heading into a home matchup against Southern Nazarene this Saturday.
