WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU was outscored 46-34 in the second half as Southern Nazarene overcame a five-point halftime deficit to leave the Pioneer Cellular Event Center with an 81-74 victory on Saturday afternoon.
SWOSU started slow, missing their first four shots of the game, and they found themselves down by five midway through the first half before going on a 13-3 run and taking a 40-35 lead at the break following a last-second three-pointer from
Tauriawn Knight.
The Bulldogs struggled from the field in the second half, hitting just 3-of-14 three-point attempts and falling behind SNU by 11, 71-60, with 5:13 to play. SWOSU would cut the lead down to five in the final minute before the Crimson Storm pushed the final margin to seven at the free throw line.
Kamden Gipson led the Bulldogs with 22 points, four rebounds and three assists while Knight chipped in 16. SNU converted 16 SWOSU turnovers into 25 points while the Bulldogs managed just 12 points off 10 Crimson Storm turnovers.
With the loss, SWOSU falls to 5-4 on the season heading into their third round of Great American Conference divisional play, which begins on Thursday night at home against Southeastern.
