LUBBOCK, Texas – SWOSU Volleyball fell to Lubbock Christian on Thursday night in their opening match of the LCU Chap Classic.
The first two sets were competitive all the way through and decided by two points apiece. After LCU took the first 25-23, SWOSU had a chance to even it up with a 23-20 advantage in the second, but LCU rattled off the final five points of the set and took the 2-0 lead. Momentum stayed on the side of the Lady Chaps, who never trailed in the third set and put the match away with a 25-17 set win.
SWOSU was led by outside hitter
Chezney Nielsen, who finished with 11 kills while
Maicee Morgan had 10. No other player recorded more than two kills for the Bulldogs, who got no offensive contribution from three different middle hitters who played in the contest.
Allie Hoang tallied another double-double with 15 assists and 13 digs while
Kaitlyn Dillon led the Dawgs with 19 digs.
Sofia Gruden had a team-best four blocks in addition to six digs.
SWOSU (3-3) returns to action twice on Friday, facing Dixie State at 11:00 am and UT-Permian Basin at 3:00 pm in Lubbock.
