ALVA, Okla. – Bulldog Baseball travels on the road this weekend to compete in the last Great American Conference series of the season as they go up against Northwestern at the Glass Family Field at the Myers Stadium. The series gets underway on Friday with the first game beginning at 6:00 pm, wrapped up on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
In the GAC standings, SWOSU ties Harding and Oklahoma Baptist for fourth after going 3-0 last weekend against Southern Nazarene improving their record to 21-21 on the season and 17-13 in league play. The Dawgs looks to extend their conference record this weekend as they take on number eight NWOSU.
The Bulldogs remain ranked third in the GAC in triples led by
Alex Bedard who has earned five on the season matched with 18 doubles and 21 RBI on 59 hits while batting .383.
Rafael Villela bats an average .402 connecting on 35 hits to earn nine doubles and 21 RBI.
Alex Pimentel is hitting .335 with 31 RBI and 11 doubles while connecting on 53 hits.
Sawyer Toole, current Bulldog of the Week, bats an average .310 with 24 RBI, five home runs, three triples, and eight doubles.
Tanner Long leads SWOSU in homeruns with six on the season combined with 30 RBI and nine doubles.
Tyler Tuck was named the Great American Conference Co-pitcher of the Week after his outstanding performance last weekend against Southern Nazarene. On the season, Tuck has pitched a total of 73.0 innings going 7-2 overall with an ERA of 3.82 while striking out 47 batters.
Cooper Cantwell, previous winner of GAC Pitcher of the Week, has thrown out 48 batters going 6-4 on the season with 4.81 ERA. Other key pitchers include
Gabe Jacobo and
Brant Millerborg with Jacobo pitching 29.1 innings committing 32 strikeouts and one save to go 3-2 on the season and Millerborg striking out 21 batters in 32.1 innings.
