WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball heads on the road this weekend to compete in a Great American Conference three-game series against Southern Arkansas. The action will take place at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field in Magnolia, Ark. The series will consist of a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 12:00 p.m., followed by a single game beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
After coming off an extra inning victory Tuesday afternoon, the Bulldogs enter the weekend 9-8 overall and 5-4 in league play. This series will be just the fourth GAC match up of the season for SWOSU. Southern Arkansas is currently ranked number one in the GAC standings going 8-1 in league play after receiving their only conference loss to Harding a week earlier.
The Bulldogs are currently ranked second in SAC Bunts with a total of 11. SWOSU also ranks third with a team ERA of 4.43 behind a pitching staff that has allowed 69 earned runs in 144.2 innings of action this season.
Cooper Cantwell has earned two GAC Pitcher of the Week awards this season so far after throwing eight no-hit innings against East Central and allowing just two hits and one unearned run against Arkansas-Monticello while also recording a season high of eight strikeouts. Cantwell is boasting a 3-1 record with a 3.34 ERA in five starts this season.
Tyler Tuck has been the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs four times while also making the most appearances of any Bulldog pitcher, with a 2-2 record and 5.40 ERA
Alex Bedard leads the Bulldogs with the most hits this season with 19 hits and a batting average .297 along with the steam high 20 runs while also leading the GAC with 11 stolen bases on 12 attempts.
Alex Pimentel, a returning All-American, is batting .354 with 23 hits and 13 RBI.
Tanner Long adds 16 hits with 10 RBI to the season for the Bulldogs, while
Sawyer Toole and
Robert Perea both puts up 10 hits and seven RBI.
