HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Six SWOSU Golfers were named to the 2017-18 All-Great American Conference team on Saturday night at the awards banquet that precedes the GAC Championships. The women's side produced five of the six selections including a pair of first-team honorees.
Gloria Choi and
Elin Wahlin earned First Team All-GAC honors for the Lady Bulldogs, while
Chloe Thackeray was placed on the second team, and both
Emily Folsom and
Jenna Eidem were named honorable mentions. On the men's side,
Kason Cook was the lone Bulldog represented as a second team all-conference selection.
Choi (Langley, British Columbia) garners her third consecutive First Team All-Conference honors. Choi – last year's GAC Women's Golfer of the Year – recently picked up her second career victory at the Central Region Spring Preview. She has finished in the top five of the leaderboard in four of SWOSU's eight tournaments this season and also placed 10th and 12th in two others. Choi also was named the GAC Women's Golfer of the Week one time this season.
Wahlin (Karlshamn, Sweden) is also now a three-time First Team All-GAC selection. She has a fifth-place finish to her credit this season and has placed within the top 10 in two other tournaments.
Thackeray (Billericay, England) improves from her honorable mention status last season and is now a Second Team All-Conference recipient. She has a top-three placing under her belt and has finished within the top 15 in two other events this year.
Folsom (Oklahoma City) picks up her third all-conference honors in four years as a Lady Bulldog as an honorable mention. She is SWOSU's other GAC Golfer of the Week recipient this season after earning the honor back on February 21. Folsom has finished in the top 20 four times this season and has a season best finish of 10th.
Eidem (Wiesbaden, Germany) earns her first all-conference honors as an honorable mention during her junior year. She had a personal best finish of 12th this season and has another Top 20 performance to her credit.
Cook (Hydro, Okla.) earns a Second Team All-GAC nod for the first time in his young career at SWOSU. The sophomore has placed fifth at The Mule and 12th at the NSU Men's Classic, while finishing just outside the Top 20 three other times this season.
SWOSU Golf has now had 37 All-GAC selections in the seven-year history of the conference between both the men's and women's teams. The Bulldogs tee off at the 2018 GAC Championships on Sunday at Hot Springs Country Club.
