BETHANY, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball earned a 10-0 run-rule victory over Southern Nazarene in game one of the series on Friday behind a complete game shutout from
Cooper Cantwell and plenty of offense from the Bulldog lineup.
Cantwell (W, 4-3) struck out three Crimson Storm hitters and walked just one in his 104-pitch outing. It was SWOSU's third shutout of the season and the second complete game shutout by a starting pitcher.
Meanwhile, the offense managed 15 hits in the nine-inning contest with all but one hitter in the lineup collecting at least one hit. Six Bulldogs posted a multi-hit game led by
Chase Duncan with a 3-for-5 day at the plate as the only player with three hits. The lineup proved to be a tough out all day as not a single hitter struck out in the game.
The Dawgs scored runs in six of the eight innings during the game with six of their runs crossing in the last three frames.
Marion McLean,
Robert Perea, and
Jason Nichols all drove in team best two runs apiece.
SWOSU (17-14, 11-8 GAC) will battle SNU twice on Saturday in the doubleheader portion of the series set to start at noon in Bethany.
