Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Baseball (15-22, 11-14 GAC) looks to rebound after the winless weekend at Henderson State with the final home series of the season against Ouachita Baptist
- The Bulldogs have altered the weekend schedule, playing the doubleheader on Saturday before finishing the series on Sunday with the third and final game
- 11 seniors will be honored Saturday on Senior Day before the start of the day's action
- Baseball's 'Pack The Park' is also scheduled for Saturday where there will be free food, games and prizes available for all who attend
- Since the formation of the GAC in 2012, SWOSU holds a 12-4 record against Ouachita and have never dropped a three-game set against the Tigers

- With two conference series remaining in the regular season, the Tigers currently rank eighth in the GAC and would be the final team to qualify for postseason contention as it stands now
- OUA is coming off of a series victory against Northwestern, taking two of three from the Rangers

SWOSU: Zack Saunders (149-123, 6th season)
- Two-time Great American Conference Coach of the Year, winning the award in 2013 and 2016
- Inducted into the Muskogee Athletic Hall of Fame on October 13, 2016
- Earned his 100th career victory at SWOSU against Northwestern Oklahoma State on April 24, 2015
- Previously served as an assistant at SWOSU for six seasons under former Bulldog coaches Charles Teasley and Scott Selby
- Played collegiately at Kansas State following two seasons at Connors State playing on nationally-ranked junior college teams
Ouachita Baptist: Kyle Hope (29-62
, 2nd season)
- Named head coach at OUA after four years as an assistant baseball coach, serving as the Tiger pitching coach, recruiting coordinator and camp director
- Hope has thirty-two years of baseball experience on the high school and collegiate levels including a state championship in 1998 at Highland Park High School
- Has coached three MLB draft picks in his time at Ouachita Baptist
Checking the Conference Standings
- Four teams have already clinched a spot in the postseason tournament: Southern Arkansas, Arkansas-Monticello, Arkansas Tech and Henderson State
- Of those four, SAU, UAM and ATU have all solidified home-field advantage in the opening round
- SWOSU currently sits sixth in the standings, in between Southeastern (above) and Harding (below) where only 77 winning-percentage points separate the three teams
