Box Score (html)

BETHANY, Okla. – A scoreless spell lasting nearly eight minutes allowed Southern Nazarene to go on a 21-0 run in the first half as the Crimson Storm pulled away for an 85-59 victory over SWOSU on Thursday evening at the Sawyer Center in Bethany.

SWOSU led in the early going before Southern Nazarene hit back-to-back three-pointers to take a 14-5 lead with 16:02 to play in the half. The Dawgs got back within four on a free throw by Devin Pugh with 13:40 to play in the half, but they would go scoreless until the 5:08 mark of the half while SNU scored 21 consecutive points to build a 39-14 lead that would balloon to 48-22 at the break.

The teams played to a stalemate in the second half, with each team adding 37 points to their first half total to provide the final margin.

"You can't win games when you go through scoring draughts like we did tonight," SWOSU Head Coach Bob Battisti said. "The momentum was beginning to shift and we knew that, but we couldn't make the plays we needed to get things back in our favor. Credit SNU, they have a very nice ball club and they're playing with confidence right now."

Markeise Champion led the Bulldogs with 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting while hitting 2-of-5 three-point attempts. Devin Pugh added 12 points and a team-leading eight rebounds off the bench.

SWOSU (5-16, 2-13 GAC) returns to action on Saturday, hosting East Central at 3:00 pm from the Pioneer Cellular Event Center in Weatherford.
