WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Basketball lost their sixth-consecutive game on Saturday afternoon to East Central by a final score of 75-62. The Bulldogs led by as many as 15 in the first half, but slowly saw that margin decrease and went into the locker room trailing the Tigers by one by the end of the half.
The Dawgs shot 45% from the field in the first half on 14-of-31 shooting from the floor including their 7-for-16 (43%) from beyond the arc. SWOSU outrebounded ECU in the half and forced more turnovers than the Tigers, despite committing two extra turnovers.
In the second half, the SWOSU shooting went cold. East Central was able to contain to Bulldogs, holding the Dawgs to just 29% in the second part of the game while ECU proceeded to knock down an even 50% of their attempts. With 1:06 left in the game, the Tigers led by their largest margin of the game – the same amount they trailed by in the first half, 15 points.
SWOSU only managed to connect on only one field goal in the final eight minutes of the game, a
Reshardd Harris dunk with nearly no time remaining and the result of the contest already in check. Harris ended the game as SWOSU's second highest scorer with 14, three points less than
Markeise Champion's team-high 17.
Geoffery Hightower and
Nick Shoemaker both added 10 of their own, while
Luke Lewallen came down with eight rebounds on the afternoon.
SWOSU will have a busy week next week, playing three league games starting on Monday when they host rival Northwestern. On Thursday, the Bulldogs will welcome Oklahoma Baptist before traveling to Southeastern on Saturday in the final road game of the season.
